Job Description

To lead the Financial Institutions portfolio by developing and executing sector strategies, managing strategic client relationships, driving sustainable revenue growth, and leading the Financial Institutions team. The role is accountable for sector performance, client coverage, risk oversight, and the delivery of integrated Corporate and Investment Banking solutions to Financial Institutions. Strategic Leadership & Sector Ownership Develop and execute the Financial Institutions sector strategy in alignment with Corporate & Investment Banking objectives and overall bank priorities. Drive portfolio growth through client acquisition, wallet share expansion, and disciplined portfolio management. Provide thought leadership and market intelligence on developments across banking, insurance, asset management, pension funds, development finance institutions, and the broader financial services sector. Identify emerging opportunities, industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics that impact clients and portfolio performance. Represent the bank at industry forums, conferences, and strategic stakeholder engagements, positioning the bank as a trusted sector partner. Client Coverage, Relationship Management & Business Development Lead and grow a portfolio of Financial Institution clients through strategic relationship management and proactive client coverage. Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior client decision-makers and key stakeholders. Originate, structure, and execute business opportunities across the full suite of Corporate and Investment Banking products, including lending, transactional banking, treasury, capital markets, advisory, and investment banking solutions. Drive cross-sell and wallet share expansion by coordinating product specialists and internal stakeholders to deliver integrated client solutions. Ensure client strategies and account plans are developed, regularly reviewed, and aligned to revenue and sector growth objectives. Build and maintain strong networks across industry, regulatory, and market participants to generate business opportunities and enhance the bank's market presence. Act as the senior escalation point for significant client matters, ensuring exceptional client experience and sustainable long-term relationships. Monitor portfolio performance against agreed financial, business development, and strategic targets. People Leadership & Team Management Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team comprising Lead Banker and Relationship Analyst. Set clear performance objectives, provide ongoing coaching, and support career development and succession planning. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, client centricity, and execution excellence. Build sector expertise across the team through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and capability development initiatives. Risk, Governance & Compliance Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, risk frameworks, and internal governance standards. Oversee credit, market, operational, and reputational risks within the portfolio, ensuring timely identification and escalation of emerging concerns. Maintain high standards of documentation, reporting, and portfolio governance. Promote a strong risk and compliance culture across the team and client portfolio. Experience & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Postgraduate qualification (MBA, Master's Degree, CFA, or equivalent) will be advantageous. Minimum 10 years' experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Financial Institutions Coverage, or Relationship Management. Minimum 5 years' leadership experience managing teams and senior client relationships. Proven track record in sector leadership, revenue generation, portfolio management, deal origination, and client acquisition.
